Homeowners comparing window quotes often focus on the window brand, frame material, glass package, and price. One equally important distinction can be easy to miss:
Is the contractor proposing a retrofit installation or a full-frame replacement?
Both approaches place a new window in the home, but they do not remove and replace the same amount of construction. That difference affects price, glass area, flashing, stucco repairs, interior finishes, installation time, and the contractor’s ability to inspect hidden conditions around the opening.
Neither approach is automatically correct for every home. The decision should be based on the condition of the existing frame, how the original window was installed, whether leakage or deterioration exists, and what the homeowner expects from the completed project.

Will Full-Frame Replacement Always Reveal Damage?
