Tate Construction completed a focused sidewalk grinding project in Albuquerque using the real field conditions shown in these project photographs.

Documenting the Raised Joints

Before grinding began, the team identified and documented raised concrete joints that created abrupt transitions between adjoining sidewalk panels. The existing panels were reviewed so the repair could focus on localized high edges without assuming that every uneven condition should be handled the same way.

Grinding and Cleanup

The raised edges were ground to create more gradual transitions while retaining the existing concrete panels. After grinding, the work area was cleaned and the finished transitions were reviewed. This was a limited trip-hazard correction project, not a claim that the entire pedestrian route was brought into compliance with every accessibility requirement.

Repair Selection Matters

Grinding may be practical when the surrounding concrete remains serviceable and the displacement can be corrected without removing the slab. Cracked, settled, deteriorated, or significantly displaced concrete may require replacement or additional investigation instead.
